Illustrator Shows What Intimacy Looks Like, Whether You’re In A Relationship Or Not

Intimacy is something extremely important to have in our relationships with friends, family and of course, significant others. Intimacy isn’t about PDA or simply saying “I love you”, it’s about much more than that. Los Angeles artist, Amanda Oleander, has captured exactly what intimacy means in some of her drawings.

Oleander’s personal relationships are what inspire most of her drawings. She’s used examples between her and her partner to outline what intimacy means to her. Some are funny, some are adorable and some are just plain weird — as many intimate relationships are.

Everyone can relate to the following drawings, whether you’re in a relationship, have been in past relationships or just have really tight friendships. Check out how this talented artist defines intimacy.

Cuddling on the couch is totally a requirement in any relationship. Stereotypically, men are expected to be the cuddler while women take the role of cuddlee. It’s adorable when men snuggle up to their ladies every once and a while.

Crawling into bed with your significant other is the cherry on top of a long day. The real intimacy here is being able to focus on your own things while still being connected. Like holding your lady tight while catching up on some reading.

You know you’re in love when your significant other can put up with your flaws. If he or she can still kiss you goodnight after seeing you covered in toothpaste spit around your hair-covered sink, it’s the real deal.

You’re definitely really close with someone when you’ve popped one of their zits. Some find it totally disgusting while others find it strangely satisfying. Nothing’s too gross when it comes to people you love, right?

Hair shows up everywhere when you live with long-haired women. But when you’re in a relationship, things like that are never bothersome. Hairballs are like little mementos of her that you carry everywhere on your clothes.

Being truly intimate with someone means knowing them like the back of your hand. You know the way to their heart is by surprising them with their favorite chocolates.

The smell of your partner’s morning breath is basically what sleeping in on a Sunday smells like. Your significant other should never be offended when you’re comfortable enough to kiss them in the morning without brushing your teeth first.

You know it’s true love when you never get sick of looking at your partner’s face. No matter how long you’ve been together, you still get all starry-eyed when you look at them. The artist titled this drawing, “I Love You Soooooo Much”.

Snuggling each other to sleep is one of the best feelings. This drawing, which the artist has titled “Favourite Place”, is just that for lovers. Sunrise comes early but there’s no better sleep than cozying up with someone you love.

Just because cozying up with your partner while you sleep is the best, doesn’t mean there aren’t some pitfalls. If you ever have a dream of being suffocated by a hairy octopus, don’t worry it’s probably just your lady’s mane. Be careful, or the next thing you’ll hear is “Ouch, get off my hair!”

For men in love, there are no duties too girly for them. One minute they’re washing hair, the next minute they’re blowing on toes trying to dry nail polish. And, they wouldn’t have it any other way.

Never underestimate the sharpness of your partner’s toenails. It’s mind boggling how destructive they can be. Oleander was inspired to create this drawing after her man’s toenails cut her, made her bleed, and even left a scar! Toe nail clippers, pronto.
