Bullying is an ongoing issue affecting a lot of children. Recently, a community in Aurora, Colorado was devastated by the loss of a 10-year-old girl who took her own life. It happened after a video of her fighting was posted on the trending app Musical.ly.

Ashawnty Davis was in fifth grade at Sunrise Elementary School. She had a love and passion for basketball, with hopes of eventually making it in the WNBA. Her father, Anthony Davis, told KDVR, “She was just a child of joy and she brought joy to everyone.”

But her parents both noticed a change in their daughter near the end of October. Their happy little girl suddenly changed, believing the cause was due to kids seriously picking on her. Anthony added, “She got into her first ever fight. It was recorded by a student and sent to an app called Musical.ly.”

The video has been surfing the web. You can see Ashawnty and another girl are fighting in front of a group of other students.

According to the girl’s mother, Ashawnty decided to confront the girl who had allegedly been bullying her. Things quickly took a serious turn.

Latoshia Harris, the 10-year-old’s mother, told KDVR that she saw that her daughter was scared. When watching the video, you can tell she had a brave face on.

Once the video was shared on the popular music app, the young girl was completely devastated. Her father noted, “She was devastated when she found out that it had made it to Musical.ly.”
