Netflix Fires Kevin Spacey Amid Sexual Assault Allegations

After the dozens of allegations that have come forward on Harvey Weinstein, it seems like more and more people are willing to come forward with their own personal accounts of sexual harassment. And actor Kevin Spacey seems to be no different since the allegations from Broadway star, Anthony Rapp, have only unraveled another host of allegations.

CNN reveals that an additional eight former or current employees from the Netflix series House of Cards have alleged that they were sexually harassed or assaulted by Kevin Spacey while working on the show.

Amid all these allegations, Netflix has decided to cut ties with the star.

On Netflix’s popular political drama, House of Cards, Kevin Spacey plays the main character, Frank Underwood. But in a newly released statement, it appears that the giant streaming service will no longer be working with the Academy Award winner.

‘Netflix will not be involved with any further production of House of Cards that includes Kevin Spacey. We will continue to work with MRC (Media Rights Capital) during this hiatus time to evaluate our path forward as it relates to the show.’

In that same statement, Netflix also revealed that they would be canceling the release of a film called Gore, which was in ‘post-production, starring and produced by Kevin Spacey.’

But it seems like many fans of the show are unhappy with this decision. One Twitter user wrote: ‘kind of upset Netflix is pulling the plug on House of Cards. They’re punishing an entire cast and crew for Kevin [Spacey] being a sh******.’
