Las Vegas Shooting Victim Has Been Receiving Death Threats

Braden Matejka, one of the victims from the Las Vegas shooting that took place on October 1, survived a bullet to the head during the attacks. He is on the receiving end of conspiracy theorists’ threats.

Conspiracy theorists have been questioning the legitimacy of the story since early October when gunman Stephen Paddock was first making headlines. Believing the attack to be a government-organized event meant to crack down on gun control, conspiracy theorists have now been targeting victims of the attack. Death threats, and claims that the worst attack in U.S. history was a hoax, have been hurled at the survivors.

The Guardian reports that Taylor Matejka, Braden’s brother, has been dumbfounded by the responses online. “There are all these families dealing with likely the most horrific thing they’ll ever experience, and they are also met with hate and anger and are being attacked online about being a part of some conspiracy. It’s madness. I can’t imagine the thought process of these people. Do they know that we are actual people?”

Taylor also shared several photos of the messages sent to them to The Guardian, many of which included things such as “You are a lying piece of s–t and I hope someone truly shoots you in the head,” and “Your soul is disgusting and dark! You will pay for the consequences!”
