Dolly Parton Reveals Her Mother Once Sewed Her Toes Back on With the Same Needle She ‘Used to Make Quilts and Stuff’

Dolly Parton shared a rather disturbing childhood story involving severed toes (I’m not kidding) on the Dr. Oz Show. The country icon shared with the audience a childhood accident in which her own mother had to sew her toes back on…with a sewing needle.

The always entertaining Dolly Parton shared the crazy details when she made a guest appearance on the Dr. Oz Show. “I was probably about six or seven. I had jumped across the fence onto a broken mason jar and cut three of my toes, just my little toes on my right foot, almost off and they were just kind of hanging there,” the 71-year-old told the TV host.

The country legend spoke fondly of her mother, Avie Lee Parton, who was forced to step in with a DIY solution because their family did not have the means to get her to a doctor.

“So they grabbed me up and all my dad and my brothers, they had to hold me down,” Parton went on casually. “Momma, she put cornmeal — now, you’re a doctor, you might know, I think the cornmeal was to absorb the blood,” the 11-time Grammy winner told Dr. Oz, who confirmed cornmeal would have helped the bleeding. But Dolly wasn’t finished…
