Kensington Palace released a statement on September 4 officially confirming that Kate Middleton is pregnant for the third time.
How far along she is remains unclear but something that the public has been made aware of is how Middleton is suffering, once again, from severe morning sickness. Her condition is known as hyperemesis gravidarum, which refers to a complication in the pregnancy that entails unhealthy amounts of nausea and vomiting. Middleton suffered the same complication during her first two pregnancies with Prince George and Princess Charlotte. Kensington Palace also needed to cancel several engagements throughout her various terms due to her illness.
When Kensington Palace released news of Middldeton’s third pregnancy, they also announced that they would need to cancel a planned engagement on account of Middleton’s nausea. In December 2012, Middleton was hospitalized during her first pregnancy with Prince George. Again in 2014, Middleton was hospitalized when pregnant with Princess Charlotte. She needed to cancel an appointment in Oxford with William due to her illness.
Middleton is currently being treated by Kensington doctors. She underwent the same treatment during her previous pregnancies. Women who experience hyperemesis gravidarum experience different symptoms depending on the woman. Some are given bed rest while others need to be taken to the hospital.
